Coffee Universe’s most premier event ‘World of Coffee’ starts in less than 24hours from now in my all time favorite city : Copenhagen, Denmark. Each time I visit this place, I go back with awe inspiring experiences & keep coming back with fresh lists of places to check in to.
I’m not talking about touristy stuff here and have made a fresh list of places to check out for Specialty Coffee, Breakfast / Brunch & Dinner.
Let’s get the beans rolling with must visit Specialty Coffee places while you’re in Copenhagen for the Coffee Festival.
Prolog : Continues to be my favorite place for daily fuel despite a few not so civic local patrons who visit this coffee shop regularly & set up a bad example.
April : Possibly the best coffee shop experience I’ve ever had thanks to Iohan & his colleague. This is a tranquil space designed with Scandinavian simplicity with the appearance of a Coffee Sciences Lab.
La Cabra : Just around the corner from April is this Nordic Classic. Tucked inside Another Aspect’s premium clothing showroom, this places exudes huge amount of positive energy. Of course, Goat’s coffees are amazing : La Cabra means Goat!
Original Coffee : It’s one of the emerging coffee chains in Copenhagen. The place I visited was inside the iconic Illum department store that too on the top floor offering epic views of the historic city.
HipHop : Perhaps the tiniest coffee bar I’ve ever visited. Living up to its branding, they serve amazing coffees along with sweet treats like Cardamom Bun.
Next on to two of the best places for all day breakfast menu:
Sonny : It’s location is awesome at the heart of the city center. Super chic cafe serving coffees from La Cabra along with world wide breakfast favorites.
Atelier September : Great example of Nordic minimalism with rustic interiors and oversize window views. Another local favorite for light meals through the day along with coffees (light roasted beans only!!)
Dinner : If you have just one place to experience New Nordic cuisine without spending huge amount of money, this is the place. However, do book ahead online before you get there!
Høst : Award winning restaurant with lots of surprises. Høst is the Danish word for harvest. As the name reveals, great Nordic ingredients and seasonal greens set the agenda at Høst—served with a sense of both the rustic and the elegant, and always with big flavors. Høst is located in a classic Copenhagen building on the corner of Nørre Farimagsgade and Ahlefeldtsgade, and here the exposed brick walls and Danish midcentury furniture design reflect the kitchens’ ability to mix the minimalist and the idyllic.
Wish you a pleasant stay in Copenhagen while you’re there and get sufficiently caffeinated!
