Super Special from Sam: what a collab
Best Specialty Coffee places in Prague, CZ thru' Sam's lens
A very special thanks to
for all the Coffee place check-ins he did together with his spouse in Prague, Czechia. This city is clearly emerging as one of the most progressive on Specialty Coffee Movement with quite a lot of experimentation both on Roasting & Cafe formats.Except for the first paragraph above, this entire article fully belongs to Sam, verbatim along with all the gorgeous pictures. So, over to him to walk us all thru’ some amazing coffee shops in this historic city of Prague.

My favourite coffee place in Prague - the super friendly service, cosy ambience, and super delicious coffee!
I ordered a Flat White based on their Tam Dem Express and the taste notes hit exactly as what was described - sweet-sour berries, mild almond and smooth and creamy!
I enjoyed it so much that I ordered a second flat white (even before I finished the first!) but this time their second option - Panama Emporium. And I am glad I did, because it did not disappoint at all! Although this was also with Berries - there was a marked difference! I think it was the Vanilla lingering at the back which just added a sweetness to the tartness of the Strawberries.
The Tam Dem Express was my pick - and I would definitely put this one right up there as a place to not only experience superior coffee but also where you could unwind in the evening!
KAFEMAT
Dejvická 3, 160 00 Praha 6, Czechia
A small, minimalist cafe with not much place to sit, barely a table in sight! But if you get a seat by the lovely, large windows - it’s a strange peace you feel watching the world move while you sip on your lovely coffee!
Again, I ordered myself a Flat White and was cheerfully greeted and served with a smile a lovely looking cup of coffee - and my first Swan!!!
This was a darker roast, and although not bitter was not very fruity or chocolatey. It was just pure coffee flavour!
They also have a delicious looking selection of cakes.

This was a place I was looking forward to visit and had heard about it from a couple of friends who know their coffee way more than I ever will!
The moment you enter this place, you know why it’s called a Lab! It’s white everywhere and spick and span! They are serious about their coffee but friendly! Large open spaces unlike any coffee shop I have been too! You have so much privacy even though there are no walls!
But let’s get to the coffee! We ordered an Espresso and a Latte made with Honey Geisha beans from Tembo Tembo Estate, Tanzania and a Flat White made with Kenyan beans Kamwangi.
I so wanted to love these coffees but unfortunately, I could not perceive any of the bold flavours that were indicated - neither in the espresso shot nor in the flat white. Mind you the coffee was still good but not being able to experience the intended flavour profiles was a definite let down.
However, I would love to go there again and try some other coffees!
OTHERS:
There are so many coffee shops and cafés in Prague that you would love to go into because they are so interesting, cosy or just opulent. And do go into these - the coffee may not be the best, but the experience makes it a lovely memory!
Sam Says
‘‘I am by no means an expert or a coffee connoisseur/snob! But I know the flat whites I love and the small list of places I would go to again and new ones I would love to explore and add to my list!’’
Sam is extremely shy, humble and down to earth and you see his style is super lucid as he is able to convey his coffee place experiences very nicely.
Once again, grateful to you Sam for taking time out to collaborate with me.
Grazie mille!
Well written Sam & Ram, it was fun revisiting those lovely cafe moments :) pictures are mine though 😋
