Nomad Coffee opened in Barcelona in 2014, with the idea of contributing to boost the taste for specialty coffee in the city. Shortly after, Nomad also inaugurated the open toaster, and continuing with the idea of bringing the coffee to the consumer, they began to distribute it and created a Coffee shop network with which to collaborate and grow the project nationally and internationally.
The place I visited recently is Nomad Coffee’s Flagship popularly known as ‘Coffee Lab’ and rightfully so. Living up to its name, The Place of worship of coffee, it becomes the perfect refuge for those who want to know, test and experiment with world coffees and its different methods of elaboration. With a sober and elegant design, the focus is on its large crossbar, a stage where coffee is the only protagonist.
Despite a huge crowd, the waiting time was reasonable, and I quickly found a place to be seated alongside one of the windows. I bumped into a couple who migrated from Brazil and set up their own coffee place in Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain (more on this in another blog) and had some interesting coffee conversations. Also, another couple who travelled from San Francisco, CA & wondering what to order from a reasonably elaborate coffee selection menu. I gave my recommendation based on what I tasted:
