Impact Coffee Roasters: Hygge at Copenhagen
Best of both worlds - Danish Design meets Ethiopian Coffee
Ethiopian coffee culture: Impact Roasters in Copenhagen is much more than just coffee beans. It is full of coffee culture and heritage - remembering your roots, just like the traditional Ethiopian coffee culture suggests.
Connecting best of both worlds: Daniel, a native Ethiopian who grew up roasting coffee with his mother since childhood, and his wife Nidzara, a Bosnian-Dane who honed her passion for coffee while living in Ethiopia started this venture in Denmark in 2015. If you’re lucky, you’ll bump into Daniel at the Roastery.
Impact strives to deliver the best quality coffee beans from the highlands of Ethiopia – the land from which the drink originates. Their beans are bought to Denmark directly from small-scale Ethiopian farmers using the minimum involvement of middlemen and no engagement of branch traders or agents. This way they are 100% engaged with our coffee each step of the way. More than just being a coffee company, Impact works to ensure long-lasting positive effects for the communities that grow the beans, creating projects which foster social development and create jobs in southern Ethiopia.
Impact Roasters is proud to be running three specialty roasteries in Copenhagen, successful development projects in Ethiopia, and a broad network of satisfied customers and followers worldwide.
The one I visited was in Flintholm Train Station and was super impressed with the seating arrangement, which was almost like a Co-working space. Infact, Impact rents its cafe for variety of private events such as birthdays, workshops, team buildings, and other celebrations. Or perhaps a company is hosting a summer party or celebrating a milestone like completing 100K on Cycle. Copenhagen flagged off this year’s epic event Tour de France.
The space can comfortably accommodate up to 80 people or a bit more. And you can choose if you want a barista service to provide coffee beverages for you and your guests to enjoy the celebration. These private events can, among other things, be combined as brewing and tasting events where you can experience different types of brewing methods.
What did I taste here - Pour Over in Chemex method:
DESTA – Blend (Jimma and Sidama)
COFFEE NOTES: DESTA is Impact’s first blend, which is a mix of sundried processed coffee from Jimma and wet washed processed coffee from Sidama region. Sweet intense aroma with chocolate notes of Jimma combined with crisp acidity and citrus notes of Sidama, give a very smooth finish.
TASTING PROFILE: Intense Sweetness • Floral • Nougat Aroma
PROCESSED: Handpicked / Washed and Sundried natural
Type: Ethiopian Natural heirloom
Altitude: 1700-1950 masl (Sidama) and 1650 – 1950 masl (Jimma)
Q-grade scale point: 87
